Growing Conditions & Care

Light

Prefers bright, indirect light for best color and growth. Can tolerate some direct morning sun but avoid strong afternoon rays to prevent leaf burn. In low light, leaves may become dull or plants may grow thin and leggy.

Watering

Keep soil lightly moist, but never soggy. Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Reduce watering during dormant periods (usually in winter or when leaves die back).

Soil

Use a well-draining potting mix—a standard indoor plant mix works well. Good drainage is important to avoid bulb rot.

Temperature & Humidity

Thrives in 60-75°F (15-24°C). Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes. Average indoor humidity is sufficient.

Fertilizer

Feed lightly during the growing season (spring-summer). Use a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 3-4 weeks.

Dormancy

Purple Oxalis may enter a natural dormancy where leaves die back. Simply reduce watering, keep the pot in a cool, dry place, and wait for new growth in a few weeks.
