Golden Pothos
The Golden Pothos, also known as Devil's Ivy, is one of the most popular and reliable indoor plants worldwide. Famous for its heart-shaped leaves streaked with golden-yellow variegation, this hardy vine is loved for its beauty, adaptability, and air-purifying properties.
Key Features
- Heart-shaped leaves with golden-yellow variegation
- Extremely low maintenance - perfect for beginners
- Versatile growth - trailing, hanging, or climbing
- Excellent air purifier - removes benzene and formaldehyde
- Easy to propagate from stem cuttings
Growing Conditions & Care Requirements
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light for best variegation. Can tolerate low-light conditions, though leaves may become less golden. Avoid direct harsh sunlight to prevent leaf burn.
Watering
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil become dry. Pothos prefers slightly drying out between waterings. Overwatering can cause yellowing leaves and root rot. Very drought-tolerant—great for busy plant owners.
Soil
Use a well-draining potting mix; a general indoor plant mix works well. Adding perlite or coco coir improves drainage and aeration.
Temperature & Humidity
Ideal temperature range: 65–85°F (18–29°C). Tolerates average indoor humidity but appreciates slightly higher moisture levels. Avoid cold drafts or temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
Fertilizer
Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Minimal feeding needed in fall and winter.
Pruning & Propagation
Prune long vines to encourage fuller growth. Very easy to propagate—place stem cuttings in water or soil.
